Description

Propeller Nebula (Simeis 57)
The Propeller Nebula is located in Constellation Cygnus and is part of the giant molecular cloud, the Cygnus X includes DWB-111 and DWB-119. A more accurate designation of the nebula, which would include the entire Propeller, is Simeis 57. The nebula is classified as an emission nebula and radiates strongly in Hydrogen Alpha (Ha), and to a lesser extent, in ionized Sulphur (SII), and weakly in doubly ionized Oxygen (OIII) about 4,500-6,000 light-years away.
