I wasn't happy with the previous processing of this image, so I deleted it and here is a new upload. As before:

I managed to get a good clear night yesterday (albeit with a bright moon), so I waited for the Iris Nebula to rise over some trees towards the North/North-East. In the end, I got almost 6 hours integration time, which is excellent in this country. I decided to try out the Antlia Triband RGB Ultra filter with this target as I've been pleased with the colours and detail in previous images. I used the William Optics FLT132 at its native focal length (910mm at f6.9) and the ZWO ASI2600MC Pro colour camera. I hope you like it.

The Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Cepheus. It is approximately 1,300 light-years from Earth, and it includes plenty of dark interstellar dust in the area. NGC 7023 is relatively bright when compared to other reflection nebulae at magnitude 6.8. The nebula gets its glowing blue appearance thanks to SAO 19158, the star responsible for lighting it up.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status.
