Description

LBN 762, the Drunken Dragon (right) and LBN753 (a portion on the left) are part of a molecular cloud complex in the constellation Aries.  There are also a number of smaller PGC galaxies in the field as well.   The big surprise here came after getting home and stacking the data.    At first blush, it seemed like I had a star registration problem.   Scratching my head, I consulted with a friend and discovered that my image had been photobombed by Uranus.   I hadn't realized how close my targets were to the ecliptic.

You can see Uranus near the right edge of the frame about 2/3rds of the way down from the top.   To fix the "smear" caused by the planet's motion, I blended in a shorter stack that featured Uranus and what I believe are two of its moons, Titania and Oberon?   If you pixel peep on the moons you can actually see the misalignment caused by the movement of the planetary system.     Had I realized Uranus would be making a visit, I wouldn't have had such long R,G, and B runs..

Oh well.   Always something but this was a fun "glitch".

Collected over two nights 10/24 and 10/25  30 frames each RGB, 90 Lum
