Description

CORE OF OUR MILKYWAY GALAXY

The beautiful fuzzy region that one can see in this picture is the central core of our Milkyway galaxy. Our whole earth and the solar system and all the stars that we see in the night sky are a part of the milkyway Galaxy, hence we can never have an outside view of our galaxy, but we can always observe the central core of the galaxy which is bright and consists of numerous stars crowding the center. The center of our galaxy consists of a super-massive black hole and it gravitationally holds each and everything in our milkyway galaxy like stars, planets, gases, nebulae, smaller black holes, dusts etc.

How to observe this core of our Milkyway Galaxy?

The central part of our galaxy is very bright but still it needs a very dark sky to observe it. The city light glow greatly overpowers this beautiful regions. So in order to see it one needs to travel away from the city lights to some far-away remote villages like the one from where this picture has been taken. The name of the place is Zinzuwada State which lies in the Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.

When to observe this core?
The milkyway core is not always there in the sky, but there are some specific moths in which it can be observed. The summer months of March till September offer a great opportunity to observe and photograph it
