Description

The 300,000 stars of the Great Hercules Star Cluster, captured on a frosty morning just prior to dawn on January 23, 2021. Classified as a globular cluster, such spheres of stars are the most ancient suns of our Milky Way galaxy. This cluster has the distinction of being the target of the 1974 Arecibo radio telescope message to the stars, which was designed by Carl Sagan and then sent on a journey across 25,000 light years of space. See this link for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arecibo_message

Image acquired with my RASA 8 telescope / ASI294 camera combo, with 90 minutes exposure integration.
