Description

IC2177 - the head of the Seagull Nebula. To me, it looks more like the fabled firebird in flight. According to Wikipedia, "the Firebird is described as a large bird with majestic plumage that glows brightly emitting red, orange, and yellow light, like a bonfire that is just past the turbulent flame". The fire comes from ionised hydrogen which i have blended with RGB to get some star colour. I'm tempted to put on Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and simply drift into the image. But - maybe i have had too much red wine and getting carried away.
