Description

At first glance you may not even realize this is a galaxy and I wouldn't blame you. After all, all you can see are nebulae and stars. My goal here was to highlight the nebulae only. You've seen M33 images in narrowband before but what you'll notice in that in addition to the narrowband signal you also see a bunch of light from the galaxy in between nebulae. This galaxy shine is caused by the broadband signal that is present alongside the narrowband signal. It's easy to forget that narrowband filters also capture a small amount of broadband signal as well. So in order better isolate the ionized gasses we must subtract the broadband signal out which leaves pure narrowband signal. Without the usually galaxy shine the whole structure takes on a whole new vibe.
