Description

Stack of 21 3-min exposures of the Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks obtained with my setup for the evening, a C925 telescope, Hyperstar optic, and Antlia Triband RGB Ultra filter.

The comet was in the constellation Lyra, SE of Vega, at a distance of 2.5 AU from Earth, moving at a relatively sedate pace of 61"/hr in RA and 5"/hr in Dec. The coma was ~10x12 arcmin and there was a hint of a narrow tail, which appears to be displaced to the NW of the comet's stellar nucleus. I see no evidence for the "horns" imaged previously by others. The close pair of bright stars in the lower-left side of the image are Zeta^2 & Zeta^1 Lyr.
