Description

M27 or the Dumbbell Nebula taken in HOO. I've been wanting to image this planetary nebula for some time and glad i've finally managed to get it. M27 is very low in the northern sky for me and a bit of a challenge to get. However, i managed to capture a little over 3 hours of data over 2 nights before the moon and the clouds finally got in the way. Planetary nebula are fascinating objects and a window into the future for what lies ahead for our own sun once it completes its red giant phase. It is 1,200 light-years away in the constellation Vulpecula.

Description: Re-processing old data. Its amazing what you can pull out with new tools on cold cloudy nights. This time i used GHS to reveal some of the fainter shells of gas and dust not readily apparent in the original image. Always room for improvement but how far do you go?
