Description

PK 164+31.1, also known as Jones-Emberson 1 or the Headphone Nebula, is a planetary nebula in the constellation Lynx. It's located about 1,600 light-years from Earth, and is approaching at a speed of about 84.3 kilometers per second.

PK 164+31.1 is a faint nebula that's about 4 light-years across. It has a low surface brightness and a 16.8-magnitude central star that is a very blue white dwarf. 

Rebecca Jones and Richard Emberson discovered PK 164+31.1 in 1939.

This image was taken over the nights of Jan 1st and 4th, 2024 from my driveway here in the hills of Western North Carolina.  It contains 14.5 hours of exposure taken with a RC8 telescope and an ASI071MC Pro astrophotography camera using an Antlia Quad Light Pollution filter.
