Description

First light with my new QHY294M Pro. This camera is a big upgrade to my imaging capes and is doing a great job exposing all my AP inadequacies. Hehe. I was excited just to be able to get some subs out of the camera not ensuring really sharp focus (I was trying but things were conspiring against me...I swear).

Anyways, there's been a lot of scuttlebutt about driver issues but QHY has been very responsive and it was time to just point at a target and get capturing. Research after this sub was stacked has led me to realize that I set the Gain too low (Gain 1087/Offset 20) for the setup and target I was going for - I should have gone just above Unity Gain (~1600) and bumped offset up to 60.

This was also the first time I have ever dithered an AP target and the affect is a big jump in quality over anything I have done to date - nothing as good as the other artists and technicians on AB but another AP milestone for me.) Kinda wish I had discovered dithering a long time ago. One step at a time I guess.

Thank you to all the fine folks on CN and at QHY for their assistance. Also big thanks to my fellow Black Hills Astronomical Society members who helped me figure out various aspects of this session - they know who they are.

So many targets, so little time.

CS & GB!
