Description

NGC 6217 (also known as Arp 185) is a barred spiral galaxy of only about a third the diameter of our Milky Way galaxy, located about 67.2 million light-years away from Earth in the northern constellation of Ursa Minor (the Little Bear).

It has been characterized as a starburst galaxy, which means it is undergoing a high rate of star formation compared to a typical galaxy. It is dominated by stars less than 10 million years old, giving the galaxy a blue hue.

Its Visual (Apparent) Brightness is 11.00 Magnitude.

This is the most data I have gathered on one target to date. I have captured this as a gift for my friend who has fond memories of viewing this galaxy with his late father. We had a week of high pressure in the UK and so I dedicated seven nights to  it. I dug out my 8 SCT and needed to make adjustments to back focus throughout the week. Also, a few experiments with filters to combat the bright moon and subsequent gradients. I am happy with the result of nearly 19hrs integration although I'd love to see it processed properly
