Description

Saturn imaged on the night of October 15, 2020. This is my first attempt at generating an RGB image by combining mono images taken through color filters. I picked up and ASI290MM planetary camera earlier this year with this in mind, and recently found a great deal on a filter wheel with RGB filters in the Cloudy Nights classifieds that finally prompted me to dive in and give this a go. I had to reconfigure my imaging train to fit the filter wheel in and keep an f-number in the range of F/15-F/20 (which is based on pixel size is about where I need to image with my the ASI290MM and ASI224MC). The new configuration gives my about F/18 from the image measurements I've made so far in WinJUPOS so that splits the difference pretty nicely.

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO filter wheel, ZWO RGB filters, Siebert 2x barlow, ZWO ADC, and ZWO ASI290MM. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/18. Image capture using Firecapture with gain/exposures set at : 325/25 ms (red), 350/30 ms (green), 350/42.5 ms (blue). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 30% of ~10000 frames captured per channel). Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. De-rotated and RGB combined 3 images in Winjupos. Color balancing of the RGB image in Registax.
