Description

M100 started life as an attempt at higher resolution (at approx. 0.75"/px) at the lower declinations (read altitudes) in the spring of 2010. The results were, shall we say, a bit (a lot) disappointing... Clearly a refocus on lower sampling was required to achieve a better SNR. Which started off in earnest two years later piling on a rather largish amount of sky time. However not all was well as the seeing remained doggedly on the crappy side week in week out. Exhausted I called it quits. Fast forward to 2020. Looking at the what was produced back in 2012 the image wasn't very appealing at all. It was either a case of restarting with fresh exposures or trying reprocessing with more modern tools and hope for the best. And here is the result. Not what I originally hoped for but still worth pushing out in the public eye.
