Description

This is AM 2319-481 (PGC71205) in the constellation of Grus. It is interesting from the point of view that it has a jet which i have not been able to resolve. I reckon it would be a challenge for any amateur for that matter. However, I have included an image from Arp and Madore "A Catalogue of Southern Peculiar Galaxies and associations" so you can see it in more detail.  I believe this image is from the UK 48inch Schmidt and is freely available to use but please advise if I am wrong.
Arp and Madore classify it as Category 7a which is a sub-category which has an elliptical central galaxy with fairly broad or diffuse jet emerging from it. There is not much information out there about this galaxy so i can't add much more other than what is described in the catalogue. However, jets from galaxies are indicative of a super-massive black hole. While jets from galaxies are not clearly understood, it is thought that they result when the magnetic field of the black hole in the centre of the galaxy interacts with the magnetic field of the surrounding accretion disk.  I don't think that the elliptical galaxy in the lower left is interacting with PGC71205 in any way.
I need a bigger telescope....

Description: A re-process of the original. When i zoom in, I see a very faint line below the smaller galaxy on the left of PGC71205. Could it be?
