Description

NGC 3576 or the Statue of Liberty is a region of glowing gas in the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way, located about 9,000 light-years from Earth and about 100 light-years across. NGC 3576 also contains scattered small dark nebulae known as Bok Globules, which are very dense, opaque clouds of gas and dust, and potential sites for the formation of new stars.
