Description

North America Nebula was the first nebula I have ever taken a picture of. It was back in last October when I started this journey of astrophotography. I barely knew how to operate a telescope and equatorial mount, let alone how to frame the target, expose a frame properly and process an image with software. But I was so thrilled that I could actually take a picture of a deep sky object from my backyard. Nine months later, the nebula is high in the sky again. I took advantage of a very short window of clear sky last night at a dark site and got this image. Comparing the images I guess I did learn a lot more about this hobby. But the thrill of getting a picture of something so far away and so majestic remains the same.

Telescope: Askar FRA 400 5.6 with Optolong L-eNhance filter; Camera: ZWO ASI294MC PRO; Guide scope: ZWO 30F4 Mini Scope; Guide camera: ZWO 120MM mini. Mount: Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro with Rowan belt mod.; Accessories: ZWO EAF, ZWO ASI Air Pro. Software: PixInsight, Photoshop CC.

Light frames: 43x180s; Darks: 30; Flats: 10; Flat darks: 10. @Bortle 4.
