Description

This was my very first effort to capture lunar images with my full frame CMOS cooled astro camera. I shot through both Lum and Red filters, but blew out some highlights with .01 sec exposures with the Lum filter. Shot with .02 to .25 sec exposures for Red without blowing out highlights using trial by error in SGP using the frame and focus loop. Used Autostakkert to evaluate and then stack the best of the Red filter frames. Imported results to Photoshop where I adjusted exposure/highlights/shadows to taste and then sharpened. I used lessons learned from this session to conduct additional lunar imaging on 22 March. The terminator for this night seemed to highlight a larger number of craters on the right and mountains (particularly the Apennine and Caucasus Mts) on the left. There is an apparent 'X' on the right side of the terminator which stands out fairly brightly - once you notice it.  (There is also a weaker 'V' just left of center along the terminator.)  I captured additional images on 22 March, which I also stacked and have uploaded in my gallery.
