Description

Leo I is a dwarf galaxy in the constellation Leo, about 820,000 light years from Earth
It was discovered in 1950 by Albert George Wilson on photographic plates taken through the Schmidt room at the Palomar Observatory. Leo I is located just 12 arc minutes from Regolo, the brightest star in the constellation. For this reason the galaxy is sometimes called Regolo's dwarf. Starlight makes the study of the galaxy difficult and was noticeable only in the 1990s. Photographed from my house, adding 18 poses from 15 minutes to 100 ISO, made with a Newton SW 200/1000 telescope and a Canon 700d reflex
