Description

We have had so little clear sky recently in UK, I jumped at the opportunity to test out my new camera lens rig. This area of Cygnus containing NGC 7000 - the 'North American' nebula, and IC 5070 the 'pelican' nebula is as rich a starfield as is visible from the N hemisphere.

Taken through a 28mm Pentax wide angle lens, attached to my DSI III pro, with a modified c-k adapter, this 6minute exposure through an Optolong L-eNhance filter, improves the contrast and clearly shows these emission nebulae - ridiculous really with 6m integration! A good focus was achieved using a homemade Bahtinov mask (hand etched on an old CD case).

Standard processing in Startools with a little HDR brightening and contrast applied. Version 2 with maximum contrast applied in iPhoto editor. Looking at the plate solve, I could frame this much better to capture the full extent of nebulosity in the central Cygnus region...
