Description

After seeing a number of beautiful images of this region, including a recent IOTD - I made this my "Orion" goal for the season. I get about 3 hours a night to shoot low declination targets like these, due to obstructions, and unfortunately life has prevented me from traveling to darker skies in recent weeks. All said, I felt that after ~10 hours of broadband data, I was able to display the field in a way that I liked. I did get some dual band data from which I extracted Ha, but the signal was really only useful in enhancing Barnard's loop. Too noisy in other regions relative to the broadband data. The processing workflow went back and forth between Pixinsight and Photoshop a number of times, with APP used to stack the dual band data/extract Ha for simplicity. On these cold New England nights, I'm happy to have the ASIAIR/HAE/2600Duo combo that allows me to set up and start a shoot in just a few minutes.
