This small spiral galaxy is located 125 million light years away in the constellation of Canes Venatici at a declination of +29 degrees. It is a magnitude 11.5 galaxy which spans 3.2 arc-minutes in our apparent view. This corresponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 120,000 light years. From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 15 degrees from face-on.
This galaxy has a fascinating disk structure. The bar is amazing, with a
barlens across the middle and an
ansae at each end of the bar. The arms appear disturbed, each dispersing into a wide chaotic plume with star clouds. Most interesting is the 2 dark void regions, left and right of the mid-region pseudo-ring.
