Description

I imaged this globular back in 2014 with my C8 and my modified Canon 60d. I decided to have another go at it but this time with my RC8 and my QSI 683. When I first looked at the color masters, I was surprised at how much fainter the blue channel was compared to the red. At first I thought it was because most of my subs were captured when it was between 35 and 40 degrees from the horizon. But this cluster is estimated to be 30,000 light-years away from us and so interstellar reddening is probably responsible for some of the faintness of the blue channel as well. Even though this cluster is fainter than it's neighbors M10 & M12, it's extremely rich and worth a look.
