Description

Glad to get this comet on a rare clear night before it would be blocked by a nearby roof.  Only my second go at a comet, I'm very happy with how it turned out.  I decided to get short subs without any delays and shoot with OSC in the hopes that I'd get _something_ useful.  More time of course would be better, but I'll take what I can get!

Processing comets is frustrating!  The key steps for this result was to get was to get a starless version of each comet aligned sub.  To get rid of residual stars MMT was used against extracted luminance. Then some careful removal of the comet in Affinity Photo was required.  Unfortunately in two rounds!  The first round was to create a mask that focused only on removing the comet core.  The second round removed a few trails that were in the comet tail.  Each of these are used in turn to remove the trails with curves, lowering with K and L in almost equal amounts very carefully.

Description: Brightened the comet and didn't reduce stars. Carefully added stars back around the comet so things were not saturated.
