Description

A wide field view for a change. If you thought stars were just white think again. The red smudge top middle is IC417 or the Spider Nebula it is an emission nebula approximately 100 light years across. It is located about 10,000 light years from Earth.
The red smudge middle right is NGC1913 , is an emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga , it is approx 7000 light years away. The cluster of Blue stars in bottom right is M36 an open cluster of stars, known as PinWheel cluster approx 4100 light years away. The other collection of blues stars centre left is NGC 1907 an open star cluster around 4,500 light years from Earth. It contains around 30 stars and is over 500 million years old.
