Description

One of the more unusual objects in the Southern Skies at the moment is NGC6164/65. It is a nebula shell surrounding a pre-main sequence star. The interesting part for me is the earlier ejection shell seen faintly surrounding the main object. I became aware of this object and the faint sheel in the early '90s when I found an article in the Astrophysical Journal 251, On the nebulasities associated with the extreme star HD148937. I found the finder chart associated with the article and set out to observe the nebula with my 20" Dobsonian which I did. It was quite a challenge target.
