Description

My rendition on Abell 78 in Cygnus. I've seen a number of wonderful images of Abell 78 this fall, most taken with 12" or larger reflectors as Abell 78 is fairly small at 2 arc minutes. So, I was curious to see what kind of resolution I could get with my 6" refractor and ASI 6200 camera. I was quite surprised that most of the detail visible in images taken with larger scopes where still visible in my image. I shot this using 2x2 binning, mainly due to file size management but it was a bit under sampled @1.78 arc seconds/pixel so I then drizzled the data 2x to bring it up to the size I would have gotten shooting 1x1. It seems to have preserved all the detail very well.

The LRGB portion was shot under dark skies at the Eldorado Star party in Oct and the narrow band data was collected from my suburban skies at home.

The image is also only a portion of the full image field. It's been cropped square to only show the area around the nebula which is the more interesting part.
