Description

I wanted to know if my ZWO AM5 could handle a larger payload than a small refractor.  For this experiment, I decided to try my 5" refractor.

Verdict: The AM5 handled the heavier weight with ease.  Guiding numbers were very good, desite the 27 lbs payload.  Note: I strongly recommend a counterweight for larger payloads to avoid the risk of tipping over.  I also assume that using my Orion Atlas Pro's tripod with pier extension contributed to stability.

It's nice to know I'll have a relatively portable 5" refractor setup for travel to dark sky locations.
