NGC2403 / Caldwell 7An unnamed intermediate spiral galaxy and a member of the
M81 Group.
After imaging M81 and M82 before Christmas I decided to take a shot at working through some of the larger targets in their associated group as a couple of them work rather nicely with my setup. Admittedly a little bit of an early start on Galaxy Season, but as I'm starting to lose access to most of the interesting Milky Way targets from my location I figured I'd give some circumpolar galaxies a shot instead.
I managed to get a decent amount of exposure time (and number of subs) for this one, so gave Drizzle 2x a go to see if I could pull out a little more detail in the HII regions. Otherwise not too many challenges with this one honestly... other than cursing how bad my LP is to the North!
Ok, that last bit was a bit of a lie, I had some fairly horrid issues with guiding on my mount whilst the target was within an hour or so of zenith. I took it as a sign that it was time to tune it up a bit and deal with the backlash and stiction I'd been seeing. I think it was successful, PHD2 certainly seems to think I solved the dec backlash issue at the very least!
