Description

I really hesitated to post this because it shows just how stupid I am but here is what I learned from my stupidity LOL, Hope others may find my goof somewhat amusing yet educational.

So, ok I bought my ProPlanet IR Pass 642 filter and thought that I would give it a try not realizing that DAAAAH you are not going to get a color image out of this filter and shot Jupiter. An AB friend of mine said to try it Grey Scale so I did and wow there is a lot of detail in the image. So rev C is the original shot with the filter and its the ugly reddish/brown color image and this is the grey scale. The thumbnail marked original is without the filter but was an after thought when I took the PP IR Pass filter off the camera.

Saturn was shot without the filter.

All these images were just playing around for the 1st real attempt at shooting the planets.

The one thing I take from this experience is that the PP filter really makes a difference in bad seeing conditions. It’s to bad one couldn’t use this and get colored images. Well at least me as I’m a nob at processing these things!
