Description

Arp 263 is a really strange galaxy.  This one is included in Arp's Irregular Clumps classification (Arps 257-268).  There are many strange irregulars in this classification and this is among the strangest.  On the west (left) end of the galaxy is a wisp curving upward (south) that contains maybe 6 clumps of material.  On the southeast edge (top, right) is another faint plume also arcing but somewhat directed at the nearby PGC 1525170.  Many small clumpy details seen in the main body of the galaxy.  On the southeast edge is a bright knotty region with two fairly bright spots and a tiny spot just to the left.  A 9.96m star is almost centered in the galaxy.  At least another 10 faint galaxies can also be seen in the FoV.  A very strange and very interesting target.
