Description

Every year I try my hand at this beautiful summer target. Besides better gear I also hope to have improved my processing skills.

I wanted to retain fine detail and opted to use my main scope, however that meant that I needed to create a mosaic composed of 6 panels, taken during July and early August 2021.

I captured approx 40 subs for each of the panels, of which I retained approx 25 subs, based on the criteria of lowest Median, lowest gradient, small eccentricity and low FWHM.

Pixinsight was used for pre- and post-processing the images and to create the mosaic.

Each image was individually pre-processed (blink, calibration, debayer, registration, NSG and integration), followed by DBE and ABE, as well as PCC.

The resulting mosaic panels were registered using MosaicByCoordinates and merged into the final mosaic using PhotometricMosaic.

The usual linear and non-linear processing steps then followed to create the final mosaic.
