Description

This blue reflection nebula is located in the constellation of Cepheus at a declination of +73 degrees.

The source of the reflection nebula is the star HD 217903, which is a magnitude 8 star located 1100 light years away.  The nebula spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 1 light year.

The space surrounding this star is unusually dusty, making for an interesting multilayered 3-D appearance to the blue reflection nebula.
