Description

This spiral galaxy is located 100 million light years away in the constellation of Bootes at a declination of +49 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12.3 galaxy which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 90,000 light years.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 30 degrees from edge-on, giving us a nice perspective on the galaxy disk structure.

This is an interesting galaxy, disturbed to a greater extent than it first appears by some unseen force.  The core is shifted off center.  The asymmetric disk looks fairly normal at lower left and upper right, but at lower right is diffuse and at upper left is dominated by a single arm.
