Description

Frustrated on multiple fronts with my attempts to obtain reasonably long integration - tens of hours - on sh2-129 and ou4, in the end
I decided to process the miserable amount of data I managed to scrape together.

The present image is the result.

It comprises:

Ha, 2.5 hrs Baader 4nm, Bortle 5/6 skies in Yorkshire,  August 2022
O, 1 hr Baader 4nm, Bortle 2/3 skies NW France, September 2021
Redcat 51, ASI2600MM Pro, Gain 100, -5C
CEM40, SW GTI

Total integration 3.5 hrs.

Processed in PI. Here I believe that the marvellous noiseXterminator plug in helped in turning what I expected to be  a sow's ear into
a (poor!) imitation of a silk purse.

I think the dark skies where the O was recorded also make a huge difference. Also, being able to cleanly extract the squid's nebulosity using starXterminator played a decisive role. Kudos all round to Russell Croman.

For the avoidance of any misunderstanding - there is no substitute for long integration if the objective is to produce images of the highest quality which is certainly  my desire.

The present example is more a note to self, and to anyone else who might be vaguely interested, to always look at what data you have - it might surprise you.
