Description

Star Analyser spectra of Menkalinan (β Aur; spectral class A1IV-V) and Capella (α Aur; spectral class G3III), the two brightest stars in the constellation Aurigae.

The two spectra were captured using an objective grating slit-less spectrograph configuration, in which the Star Analyser 100 diffraction grating was positioned in front of a 135 mm prime lens. The spectra are shown rectified, i.e. normalized relative to the spectral continuum. Selected absorption lines, for the most part identified using Richard Walker's Spectral Atlas, are labeled.
