Description

This is the Lagoon Nebula M8, a large hydrogen cloud situated at about 4100 light-years from us. It is illuminated by the powerful binary star 9 Sgr, with a total brightness of more than 800000 times the sun! The nebula includes an open cluster of young stars, NGC6530.

This is a SHO composition presented in the Hubble pallet.
