Description

Urban Astrophotography - Bortle 9 Scale (Sombrero Observatory - Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, PORTUGAL)

The weak emission nebula IC 410, features two notable inhabitants in the cosmic gas lagoon, the tadpoles, located in the constellation Auriga, about 12,000 light years from Earth.

The gas structures in this image are illuminated by the radiation from the open star cluster NGC1893 which is in the center of the nebula.

This star cluster is about 4 million years old, but in astronomical terms it is still very young, with hot and massive stars, the length of the "cosmic tadpoles" is 10 light years, their heads are outlined by glowing ridges of ionized gas , while their tails move away from the central region of the cluster (approximate values).

Acquisition of images 02 to 02/17/2020, total 9,285 hours.

Technical note: LRGB (77+10+08+09)X200 seconds and Ha-SII-OIII (38+30+32)X300 seconds.
