Proper Motion of Sirius A/B pair over 4 years

Description

This animation shows the proper motion of the Sirius A/B pair over 4 years. In April, 2018 I used the 0.41m PROMPT-5 telescope at CTIO to image Sirius and its white dwarf companion. I took 5 1/4 second exposures using a blue filter and stacked them to create a higher quality image. Four years later, in April 2022 I did the same. By registering both images on a nearby field star, the proper motion of the Sirius A/B system is readily apparent (and even the orbital motion of the system around its center of gravity). My friend Boris Starosta created this animation from my images.
