Description

NGC 2903 is a spiral galaxy barred in the constellation of Leo about 20.5 million light years from the Solares system covered by William Herschel in 1784.

This is a galaxy in many ways similar in shape to the Milky Way. Its size is only slightly smaller than ours, with an area of approximately 80,000 light years. But unlike ours, it is younger and has a mass of bright massive stars instead of the globular.

The central region of the galaxy has an exceptional rate in terms of star formation, concentrated in a ring around the nucleus, which has a diameter of just over 600 parsecs and includes not only a large number of bright young people, but also a significant presence of emission nebulosity and dark dust.

Given the focal length not really pushed I also made a crop to better show the spirals and the luminous core of the galaxy. At the top we note ngc2916 another spiral galaxy located at 179 million light years from our solar system.
