Description

NGC3718 is a twisted galaxy due to its interaction with NGC3729 seen below. It has a distinctive "S" shaped dust lane blocking out much of the core. The small grouping of galaxies to the right are known as the Hickson Compact Group 56. They are not particularly small, but about 8 times further away than NGC3718 which is about 52 million light years away.
