Description

Eastern Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant in the constellation of Cygnus. The oxygen, sulfur and hydrogen composition of this nebula make it a popular choice for deep sky astrophotographers capturing images using narrowband filters. The bright portion of the Veil Nebula is also known as Network Nebula. The supernova explosion that created the Veil Nebula occurred 5000 to 10000 years ago. It is located 1400 to 2500 light-years away in the constellation of Cygnus.

NGC 6992 was discovered by William Herschel in 1784. NGC 6995 was discovered by John Herschel in 1825. IC 1340 was discovered by Truman Safford in 1866.
