To be honest, I dislike this object. But its bright and was an easy first target that was up at the right time and away from my local light pollution dome. I've always thought this thing to be a dumb red stick and so I've avoided shooting it aside from incidental captures in my widefields. Still, over this many hours and bandwidths I do find some nice color contrast, though more so in regards to the brown dark nebula seen off its edges. NGC 1499 itself does contain some interesting detail, but I doubt I will revisit this again unless I can greatly increase my focal length. Despite my general dislike of this object, I did see someone frame it as though the nebula was hanging beneath Menkib some years ago and it stuck with me
