Description

One of the brightest visible galaxies in the night sky, Centaurus A is a beautiful but mysterious galaxy located between 10 to 16 million LY from Earth. It is only visible from the southern hemisphere (or low northern latitudes) and features an unusual morphology and a distinct band of dust across its middle, which has led to the general conclusion that it was formed from the merger of two smaller galaxies.

While I am waiting for my new scope to arrive with a longer focal length, I wanted to test how well the RedCat 51 would do with a smaller target like this using a larger number of dithered frames and drizzle. I probably could have thrown 3 or 4 times the amount of frames at this to improve the result, but overall I'm happy with this somewhat short test.

I hope you enjoy!
