Description

After hours of frustration with focus always looking fuzzy at best, swapping components, changing extension tube stack ups , checking colimation, etc. Colimation looked absolutely terrible. This just didn't seem right as weeks before I had the telescope about as well colimated as seemed possible.

I suspected tilt/misalignment and tried all sorts of parts/swaps trying to find it. I tried checking colimation with out the 2x Powermate, with it, with out it, and with it again. The first time without it it a star test still showed tilt. I put the 2x back in, still showed the same problem. Removed it again, and the star test showed colimation looked really, really good again. I put the 2x back in, and it looked just as good as without it. Something about the way the parts are settling when screwed together? The large 48mm SCT adapter (91mm length)? Something else?

As expected after I got the system back in alignment clouds began to form, and I only got 2 video recordings in before Jupiter/Saturn were clouded over.
