Description

the last three weeks were very favorable weather wise. So I got LRGB  in dark and Ha in bright time for a number of my favorite objects. Here M106. not fully happy yet with the combination of Ha and LRGB, it is tricky to keep the substantial fine substructure in Ha but at the same time avoiding that the whole galaxy (or its core) gets swamped in red.

Title: M106 in LRGB and HaLRGB, reprocessed

Description: I never was really happy with my M106, for whatever reasons had problems with artifacts in the stars (and made it worse in my previous version - I have to admit). Also Ha made the central regions of the galaxy to reddish. So I fully reprocessed. I find the result now more pleasing, in particular the Ha version (version D) with a much more subdued Ha.

Description: rather than somehow combining Ha and LRGB, I tried to more correctly only add the difference between Ha and the underlying continuum.

Title: reprocessed - without Ha (toogle Ha via mouseover)

Description: completely reprocessed the data with a modified workflow (and a lighter hand on color saturation), in particular

1) added Ha data already in linear stage
2) new workflow including NoiseXterminator
3) stretching using the fabulous GHS script (thanks @Gunshy61 and @mike1485)
4) removing and re-adding stars with screen blend rather than simple addition (thanks Russell Croman)
5) have a reasonable workflow to correct chromatic error (in particular in blue) owing to Celestron's reducer
and many more little details/experiences

Title: M106 - next try

Description: M106 is a nice large and fairly bright galaxy to photograph, but somehow turned pout to be really hard to process. This holds in particular when Ha is added. So I did (another) full reprocess.
