Description

In the very early morning of December 3rd, Comet Leonard passed by the globular star cluster M3 in Canes Venatici. At least it looked like that from the earth's perspective even though the separation between them was some 33.900 light years. I was lucky to get  45 minutes of clear sky perfectly timed to see the cluster touching a bit the comet's afterburner (or tail, as they call it).

The rendezvous was captured with two telescopes running in tandem to collect color data in the smallest scope and luminance data through the larger one. The total data set was INSANLY difficult to process as it required four differenet stacks, separating the stars (with the tricky cluster) and the comet in both color and mono versions.
