Description

The Helix nebula... It's a planetary nebula which means it is expanding gas from a dying star. It actually has nothing to do with planets.

The Helix nebula is famously called 'Eye of God' or 'Eye of Sauron' and is NGC7293, sitting about 650 light years away. It's really close to earth for a planetary nebula. Eventually that central star will become a dead white dwarf star.

This was Hydrogen and Oxygen data collected over 2 nights and 300 x 60 second images in narrowband stacked and colored in HOO palette... and not flipped ;)
