Description

I had a pretty good return from the first six months of 2023, with at least a couple of moonless clear nights every month excepting March. But the weather since June has been appalling here, and it's been a poor summer return. I don't usually bother when the moon is bright, but with a couple of clear nights in early September I got the NBZ filter out and had a go at the Sadr region.

I'm not overly keen on very red images of Ha dominated nebulae, so with this one I added my own Hb into the mix. Well, in reality, I just added 15% of the red channel (above median) to the blue channel and made things a bit pink. Unscientific I don't doubt, but each to their own I guess!

It's a two panel mosaic. My dual narrowband stars were a bit of a mess due to my image train coming loose and needing re-adjusting for tilt, so I had to wait to complete the image, and managed to grab some RGB stars during a brief clear but hazy patch in early October.

Revision: not quite so pink.  It was pointed out to me that my background was not well neutralised, and I went through all my processing and found some issues with my approach to background neutralisation as well as some issues with stretches, where I also found that I had destroyed some of the fainter nebulosity. So this version is totally re-processed.
