Description

Hello!

I went out last night and imaged M31.....Again! I'm really just trying to figure out the exposure thing and working with the histogram. The attached image is just over three hours of exposure. 121 x 90 second lights, 30 darks and 30 flats. I stacked it in Deep Sky Stacker, stretched and color balanced in PixInsight and did very little processing in Photoshop. I simply worked the black point and did some modest curve stretches. No color has been added, nor did I add star diffraction spikes. I did run a light RC-Astro GradientXTerminator to clean it up a bit.

My equipment is - Celestron CGX mount, Orion 8" f3.9 Newtonian, QHY294C imaging camera, ZWO120 mini guide camera, Orion mini guide scope, Sharpcap and PHD2. No filters were used. For the first two hours I had to contend with lights from a soccer field less than 100 yards behind me. I don't know if that impacted the image or not.

I'd love your thoughts and input. I kept this natural and as close to the stacked and initially stretched image as possible.

Thank you!

Scott
